My dad was a conductor on the trolley buses 1949-52. Met my mum in 1951 who worked in a cafe at silverhill junction.

Grew up in Queens Road at my nans b&b and remember the trolleys well. Lived opposite the old gasworks and so spent most of my time walking around the bus garage, without anybody telling me to clear off! Became so well known there I used to go out on the "round the town" AEC when it was one and six! collecting the fares. Remember the last days of the trolleys with the cavalcade but sadly didnt keep the leaflet given away introducing the Atlanteans. Anybody got one for sale?

Fantastic vehicle! I'm interested to know why it is painted in the livery of Hastings and District. Would'nt it have run originally in the livery of Hastings Tramways Co.? If anyone knows can you let me know at robertnicholson1953@hotmail.co.uk Cheers!

This brings back many happy memories. My grandparents moved to Norman Road St. Leonards in 1952 and I spent many happy summers riding on the trolleybuses, including 'Happy Harold'.

The only visit I have ever made to Hastings was in 1959 about two weeks before the tolleybus system closed. I travelled down from Charing Cross on one of the specially-designed diesel trains operating the service in those days. During my day there I travelled the entire trolleybus network.

hi all,im new to all this but i do have a passion for buses, when i was of an early age,i used to buy a wander bus ticket,it was 75p then!!!,then ride all day long around hastings&bexhill.I clearly remember the leyland national mk1,and how great they sound,it was hastings&district at the time, but do remember, topline which were yellow&black in color, and arrow which i believe where red and cream,id love to see another mk1 national again and hear the sound of one, that would really take me back to the days of my youth and put a big smile on my face!
